Our class is beginning to meld together as a cooperative learning unit. We are enjoying the new format with opportunities for mobility throughout the day. Student-to-student coaching is taking on new importance as learners hold each other accountable. Several students have submitted new cheers to celebrate successes. I am looking forward to the year which will bring new ideas, curriculum requirements, and technology.

Background
I grew up in North Dakota. My parents were farm folk who moved to Bismarck when I was a young child. Education was always stressed by my parents, and for that I am grateful. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and speech pathology. I worked two years as a speech therapist in North Dakota, serving 14 schools in a county system. I have some blizzard experiences to share if you're interested. I have also taught preschool in Dallas, Texas and Calgary, Alberta. My teaching experience in Kansas began with a two-year stint as a tutor for ESL students. I have taught third grade for twenty-one years. I am convinced that the depth of learning is correlated to the depth of the teacher-student relationship. It is my job to create a bond with your child that will allow academics to flourish.
