Wow! Can you believe that we are almost done with the 1st 9 weeks! We have been very busy since school started and your kids have really been working hard to become physically educated. We have worked on developing a lot of different skills in our class as well as developing good sportsmanship. In this first 9 weeks we have been working on dribbling with feet, kicking, throwing and catching.
The kids are playing games that are helping them practice the skills and then I assessed them on those skills. Those assessment scores will be averaged into their overall PE grade. I will also be assessing them on how well they get along with others and listen to directions. If you have any questions about how your child is doing in my classroom please let me know. I would be happy to fill you in.
We have also started an Active Eagles walking program. During our Fitness Friday's we have been going outside to walk laps around our field. Every time they walk all the way around the field they get their card punched. Every 6 laps around the field is equal to a mile. When they fill their card they have walked 5 miles. When they have filled the card they will receive a "toe token." The little feet come in different colors and hopefully they will be working toward collecting them all.
In looking ahead to the 2nd 9 weeks we will be doing skills like volleying and cross the midline (cup stacking). I hope that your child is excited for what is ahead of us becoming an Active Eagles.
